Gavin is an exceptionally talented and engaged lawyer with an impressive track record of advising investment banks, PLCs and tech companies in the UK, US and Middle East. Unusually, Gavin is both a highly regarded financial services specialist and an expert in IP/IT who has advised major international companies with extensive global reach. His rare expertise means that he is perfectly placed to advise when financial crime compliance converges with the technology space – such as in the sphere of cryptocurrency.
However, Gavin’s intellect sits easily within his pragmatic and commercial approach to his clients’ issues. Those issues have concerned the biggest regulatory issues that financial services firms, Banks, manufacturers and tech companies have faced over the past decade – including the compliant implementation of complex FS regulation including MiFID I and II, Brexit, financial crime but also tech implementation including telecom regulations, AI, big data and algorithmic programmes. Gavin’s legal authority and calm supervision of 50 project managers ensured that post-Brexit, Lloyds Bank had in place all the Intra-Group Agreements it required to continue trading in the EU.
